Disappointment

Got the email again from Victoria University, this time it hurt me a lot... My mood is nervous break collapse. So disappointed... Here's the email written below.

I apologise for the confusion. I have spoken with our legal department about the discrepancy with the course duration.

Unfortunately it appears that there is conflicting information with our TAFE courses in Advertising. There is a chance that the discrepancy may mean the course will not run in 2010. I will need to clarify this further but until then I don’t want to mislead you. There may be changes to the course and its future in 2010 is unclear. Until the matter is resolved I am sorry to inform you that the course is unavailable. I have only just learned this information myself so I really do apologise for not being able to tell you earlier.

However, you might want to consider the option of studying the Diploma of Business and Enterprise instead. This is a secure course which is extremely popular. Essentially the course is a generalist business diploma which then articulates into all of our Bachelor of Business programs. If you are interested in studying at Bachelor level this is an excellent pathway. Unfortunately you won’t get to specialise from day one, but you will still be able to study within your area of interest and continue on to specialise at Bachelor level if you choose. Students who complete this course are eligible to enter any of our Bachelor of Business programs at second year level.

I have put so much effort on researching until I felt myself cause people feel ignoring. In the end, I really get nothing. I no longer young age and wasted so many years of youth to persuade study. I feel so shameful and useless.

Brother told me, well can go TAFE not just VU. And why you want to do advertising anyway. Any good advertising jobs out there?

I explained to him, People cannot leave advertising no matter in newspapers, tv commercial, billboards, banners, flyers or even internet websites. Although they are not so important in life but they do inspire people of the Brand, sending the message to attract people, to brain wash people to buy their products. Advertising firm is very busy world indeed they really have a good income like your job do. I enjoyed working in research firm like my ex-company did.. Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to become a researcher. Thus, I had compared both Advertising program between Malaysia and Australia.

The units they offered are all totally different.

However, I don't want to waste pa money and I just want to try to experience study for few months from Australia. Another point is VU offer the main point I'm concerned the most that is the shortest duration to complete the course. The worst regret thing I've done was I'm unable to visit the school during the time I spent in Melbourne.

Dad told me, It's normal to feel dis-appointment but don't let it get you down. Anyway, It's still uncertain that VU may not have this course. Could be there may not have enough students for this course. There are other Uni or college that offer this course as TAFE is an Australian and will not be dis-continued. When you have time, do drop by IDP to check. The persons there will be glad to help. Do not worry about money. When sis and bro were in uni, only dad was working and sis n bro were able to complete their studies. Now, dad, mum, sis n bro are working so definitely there will be money for you to complete your studies.

Take care of yourself. The bad news doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

My tears just drop whenever I read this email. I felt more sham on myself! My dad is old enough to support us. He never want to gain back any return. He support us whenever we need. Dad had sacrificed too much...

Sister told me to,

1. concentrate on your ielts.

2. chant hard. there is nothing you can do until they get back to you if you have your heart set on advertising from day one. business is too general, imo.

Feel speechless...All of them supporting me.

Myself only know how to cry like a baby. I'm childish but you can see my mature side. I concerned for so many factor. I thought I could stay at there to complete the course in that 0.5year. Why? Because it had a short term for me to understand the education over there. In additional, the short duration would allow me to have time to test whether I could cope to their education style or not. In fact, the location is very convenient as my sister is working nearby and easy for me to keep in touch with her if emergency happens. And the course end before summer holiday, so I could have time to go back Malaysia to attend my sister wedding which held on Christmas Day. Why? Because I promised to be her bridesmaid. Thus, without wasting the money hardly earn by my dad, sister and brother, if my sister is moving out when her house had build later then I still can share the rent with brother until I completed the course. Further more, the course separate in 3 papers award Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma. So it doesn't make me feel like tie up like what Malaysia did. After you had complete the Certificate you could have a vacation or temporary working then later you can continue again without forcing you to complete in 2 and half year for Diploma Advertising in Malaysia. Like you had paid for the course now, you want to continue or leave and gain nothing in the end? Like what I have done before in Taylor communication school for just one semester. Wasting money, wasting time, retaking whole course just because you had fail in the exam.

Ed said I am too concentrated on the self education. Yes I am of course, this is what I want for so many years! But the facts above I have mentioned shows the support that I am not selfish thinker! I can't see what have I done wrong?

Email from VU with quick respond

Got an email from Victoria University again. This time I got the information for intakes in February and July. Semester 1 runs from February 8 - June 25. Which I think I am not able apply before 29th January such in hurry. Semester 2 starts on 12 July and finishes on 26 November. The timing is just right and can attend sister wedding held in KL. Therefore each semester is of about 4 1/2 months duration including a study break. There is long summer holiday before the start of Semester 1 and a shorter break in the winter between two semesters. Usually the Faculty like the work experience to be in a related are but they will still consider if work experience is unrelated.

Again I sent another email to confirm the course work and exam passing marks. But then the officer not able to give me to accurate information so she dumb me to another department again name Faculty of Workforce Development.

However I still get the information of the subjects study per course. Students study 4 units per semester. Each section of the course (Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) consist of 4 subjects each. Therefore the total number of subjects will be 12 over 3 semesters.

I'm not really understand of this part so I forward the email to Jia Pei. Hope she could explain some to me.

It's kinda weird. Respond from Daniel. Both of us think funny actually. The officer told me is 4 units per semester for Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma. However, the website from here shows that must complete 5 core units plus minimum 5 elective units. That's mean should be total in 10 subjects am I right? Feel confuse and send email to the Faculty of Workforce Development department as well to ask perceivably.

In additional, I had email to another 2 institute which is Kangan Batman Institue in Tafe (Certificate IV in Business (Advertising) ), and also Tafe NSW Certificate IV in Advertising but they need a business certificate III as the base. In the same time, I saw few recruitment of general clerks, receptionist, part-time data entry jobs. So I decided to take action and email my resume to apply them all 3 different company.

Improve English

Yes, got a long long notes from dad by correcting my e-mails that I have sent to the VU person and also him, sister and brother. I knew that since I'm primary school until now. No action taken, sham on myself. English is difficult to master the grammar and vocabulary. It's isn't easier as Chinese I wonder why?

After I got up from bed, first thing first I check my yahoo e-mail account to see whether any response from VU International Student Department. I had replied her e-mail regarding my education level and work experience. This is what she wrote with really long and interesting paragraph. From what you've said, it sounds like you have a very good chance of meeting the academic entry requirements for Certificate IV in Advertising. I understand you will need to wait for your IELTS result to make any further decisions. Just in case you do decide to take an English course at VU, the cost is $340 per week. This covers all aspects of the course including access to state-of-the-art-learning technology and outstanding teachers. The length of the course and therefore its total cost will depend on your IELTS results. If you are close you may only need to study a short 5 or 10 weeks course.

That means if I fail I have to spend about at least $1700 for the 5 weeks English course. =.="

The Certificate is of 1 semester duration and costs $5,720 per semester. To complete a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Advertising, need to be start with the Certificate IV. This course runs for one semester and after that you can articulate into other courses. In reality, the Certificate IV is actually the first part of the Diploma anyway.

Can you see how cool is that? But of course the money isn't a problem. The most big enemy problem is myself whether I can cope with the lesson or not. Without any interruption, can I concentrate very well in the class? Ask yourself first...

Australia Animals

Woke up at 10am and take breakfast. Show Brandon and mom the photos I took from Melbourne Zoo by teaching him the animals. The Wombat...

A lot of peoples ask me, "Is this call bear bear?" NO! DEFINITELY NO! THIS IS CALL WOMBAT NOT BEAR BEAR!!! No matter guys or girls love this cute little animal. Does it look sweet? Yes, it is! Wombats fur colour may be vary from sand to brown or from grey to black. Wombats have extraordinary slow metabolism and takes about 14 days to complete the digestion which aids theirs survival in arid conditions. Wombats were often call as badgers by earlier settles because of theirs sizes and habits.

This is name as Platypus. Not call duck duck! =.=" Does it look cute? Yes, when it still as a baby platypus. When they grown up they doesn't look as cute as human adults anymore.

The Platypus is a semi-aquatic mammals inhabiting small streams, and river over an extensive range from the cold highlands of Tasmania and Australian Alps to the tropical rainforests of coastal Queensland as far north as the base of the Cape Yoke Peninsula. The brown fur that traps a layer of insulting air to keep the animal warm. The Platypus uses its tail for storage that fat reserves. It has a large feet. The male are being larger than female. In captivity, Platypus have survived for seventeen years of age. The Platypus is an excellent swimmers and spends much of its time in the water foraging for food.

After completing the introducing these animals to that little devil he just went to sleep. I expect to ask him again with this two pictures tomorrow to test whether he still remember what are these called or not.

Had two char kuey bought from OUG height there and go to Cartoon City at 3.30pm. Night wanted to go to KLCC to purchase the IELTS practice books from Kinokuniya. Meanwhile, I want to search the Japan map for brother too. As I misunderstood sister meaning when she hand over the task to bought things from Malaysia to Australia last month. Thus, Ben Ho also was asking to seek for Yugioh GX comics to purchase from there.

I found the IELTS that I borrowed from Moon Foon so I grab both plus 1 and plus 2 by Longman. RM29 for plus 1 without audio cd. RM85 for plus 2 with audio cd.

Next, we moving to food court direction downstairs to search for dinner meal. This is a Hachigo food stall in food court level.

Finally, I got an email from the right department to answer my questions before I apply for the Certificate IV in Advertising at Victoria University, Melbourne Australia. The International Student Department replied and answered me Malaysian to entry requirement is SPM : Pass in 4 subjects + 1 year work experience. STPM : Pass in 2 subjects. Entry is possible into this course with an SPM but you also need work experience. Alternatively, by studied in other courses after completing SPM might not need the work experience. However, still need an IELTS with a results of 5.5 total, no individual band less than 5.0. If don't quite make it, then have to have to attend English program to bring the proficiency to the required level.

2:30pm stepped out the house and on the way to Taman Tun Dr Ismail at Damansara. Ed and I have lunch together nearby. While on the way to there I saw Florence Tan, Paul Loong and Ah Hong ko ko walked out from the bicycle shop. My appointment is 3:40pm. Today the centre are full of peoples. As usual wait for optometrist to call my name and prepare for the all checkup. Today checkup is about the same as the first time checkup that pay for RM120 but the difference is don't have eye pressure check. First of all go to the computer check the power. Next, check the flap recovery status. No dry eye anymore, flap heal nicely. Then, have to check the power again. Hooray! Now my eye power and astigmatism is zero! The results are far better than last time result. And now have to scan and take picture of my eye ball for the report. Lastly, test my cornea tickness. After the optometrist put the medicine drop on my eye starting to feel dazzling then feel numb. She put a test pen to start testing my cornea.

After I had done all the test she ask me whether have any complaint or anything else. I said no so far so good just that sometime feel dry. How long the dryness get rip off she asked. I answered, about 4 to 5 months only it turns better. Complete everything and wait to discharge and get the eye report. Another 10-15minutes to wait due to people mountain people sea in the centre. The receptionist gave me a survey to fill in while waiting her to prepare to discharge me and write report. I tick all excellent except the reasonable price column. Some people said is worth it yes of course I do but I still consider this price is a bit expensive and the nurse inside the operation room is a bit fierce haha! 0_0

I only realise that I had spent about 50minutes in the centre and feeling so bored to be waited there.

At night went to Mid Valley awhile and then move to Jalan 222 to eat Yin-Yong Guong Fu Chao + Pork oil greaves (ju yao zha) RM13 per dish for two person. Feel very oily like drinking the oil after that. Yuck~Go home after dinner. Starting to clear my stuff on the table and prepare for Chinese New Year.

Suddenly I feel like searching the song in my iphone on google. I listened carefully what the singer sang and google it word by word. Finally I found these both songs that hit in the panda application in iphone chinese software. It names Burning by Maria Arredondo and Be What You Wanna Be by Darin Zanyar. I feel the lyrics are so touching... Please open youtube and listen to the song when you are free.

Got an email from Victoria University Advertising department and the dump me again to the International Student Department. The required minimum English level of 5.5 IELTS for this course but since I am International student and suggest me to contact VU International Office as there might be other requirement to fulfill to study in Australia. We are looking forward to receive your application. =.= " swt

Boring Day again!

Just another boring day sitting at Cartoon City making my own daily monologue for year 2010. Whole day rainy day feel so sleepy and cold. Night just went out to Taman Mayang at Sea Park night market have dinner there. Bought some apom and char kuey as supper. Reach home at 9pm. No more shampoo while I just went in to shower so I have to come out to take the shampoo and conditioner along and walk into the bathroom again. Dad thought I had finish shower and forgotten to switch off the heater.

Play Restaurant City on facebook until 3am. Can't get into sleep but eye is tiring, mind is still receiving the fierce since yesterday happening. I had up two level at Restaurant City in one day. Wai Peng and Ricky have some chat with me. Ruo Sheng still convincing his parent to let him go KL to find out which school he will transfer to begin his career as an official teacher next year. Wai Peng told me that she miss me and the time in RI. Yea, so do me as well. Who don't love good income?

Got replied email from Victoria University General Department. With short sentence the administrative officer wrote. For accurate course information please contact the Advertising Department. While the Advertising Department administrative officer had gone to holiday and have to wait until 4th January 2010 only can be back.
