This Is It by Michael Jackson

This Is It was a planned series of 50 concerts by Michael Jackson to be held at The O2 arena in London. They were scheduled to begin in July 2009 and continue through March 2010. Less than three weeks before the first show was due to begin and with all concerts being sold out, Jackson died after suffering cardiac arrest.

Jackson officially announced the concerts at a press conference held inside The O2 arena. AEG Live, the concert promoters, released a promotional video that took up an entire commercial break, setting a record for ITV. The shows were to be Jackson's first major series of concerts since the HIStory World Tour finished in 1997, and had been cited as one of the year's most important musical events. Over one million people would have attended in total. Randy Phillips, president and chief executive of AEG Live, stated that the first 10 dates alone would have earned the singer approximately £50 million. Originally only 10 concerts were announced, however public demand resulted in a 50 date sold out residency. Ticket sales broke several records and AEG Live stated that Jackson could have sold more dates. Jackson's album sales increased following the announcement.

In preparation for the concert series, the pop singer had been collaborating with numerous high profile figures, such as fashion designerChristian Audigier, choreographer Kenny Ortega and bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno. Prior to Jackson's death, Allgood Entertainment had planned to sue the musician for $40 million, claiming that he had breached a contract with them.

In light of Jackson's passing, AEG Live offered either full refunds to all ticket holders or a special souvenir ticket designed by the entertainer.Columbia Pictures acquired the footage of the show rehearsals and made a concert film entitled Michael Jackson's This Is It. The Jackson estate will get 90% of the profit made while the remaining 10% goes to AEG Live. Columbia Pictures guaranteed at least $60 million for the rights. To coincide with the release of the concert footage, an accompanying album (This Is It) is also scheduled for worldwide distribution.

Preparation and concert details

The 50-concert run was originally scheduled to start on July 8, 2009 and conclude on March 6, 2010. Each of the shows would have been performed at The O2 arena in London, which has a capacity of 23,000. Christian Audigier, a fashion designer (and personal friend of Jackson), worked on the clothing for the shows. Jay Ruckel from La Crasia Gloves created Jackson's iconic single glove for the concerts. The costumes he was set to wear during the shows were encrusted with 300,000 Swarovski crystals. In May 2009, thousands of dancers flew in from all around the world to audition for Jackson, who helped select the 12 finalists in person. Kenny Ortega, who had collaborated with Jackson previously, was to work on the overall design and direction of concerts. Ortega said that the final product would have been a "theatrical musical experience". According to Randy Philips, £13 million was to be spent on producing the concerts, which would have included 18-22 songs and 22 different sets. There also would have been aerial dancing similar to routines by Cirque du Soleil.Carla Ferrigno told Reuters that her husband Lou had been helping Jackson train in advance of the shows. Jackson and Ferrigno had previously worked together.

A 3-D video was made to be shown on stage on the tour as Jackson performed live. Shooting of the production occurred from June 1 to June 9, 2009. Jackson was present for most production days.

The video was shot at Culver Studios in Culver City, California using 3D technology developed by Vince Pace and filmmaker James Cameron. Pace claimed that "the audience would have felt like they were visiting the Thriller experience, like they were there". Production of the video was said to be "elaborate". Four sets were constructed, including one resembling a cemetery similar to that featured in the Thriller music video.

Jackson's death and refunds

Jackson died on June 25, 2009, following a cardiac arrest, eighteen days before his planned first show. AEG Live, who persuaded Jackson to sign up for the shows, is currently facing a liability of up to £300 million and an empty venue for the next nine months.

Posthumous film and album

Following Jackson's death, AEG stated that they had over "100 hours of footage of preparations and rehearsals for the shows".[50] On August 10, 2009, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff approved a deal between film distributer Columbia Pictures and AEG Live for the former company to purchase and distribute rehersal footage of Jackson for a film entitledMichael Jackson's This Is It. According to court documents, Columbia paid $60 million (£35 million) for rights to the rehearsal footage. The papers filed in court had reportedly stated that Jackson's estate will get 90% of the profits and that AEG Live will get the remaining 10% from the film's revenue. The film is scheduled for release on October 28, 2009.

An accompanying album to the film will also be released. Titled This Is It, the compilation is set to be distributed internationally on October 26, and to North America the following day. The two-disc album will feature music "inspired from the documentary of the same name". Of the album, Sony said, "Disc one will feature the original album masters of some of Michael's biggest hits arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film" and stated that the "the disc ends with two versions of the 'never-released' 'This Is It' [...] This song is featured in the film's closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael's brothers, the Jacksons." Sony added that the second disc will feature previously unreleased versions from Jackson's "catalogue of hits", along with a spoken word poem entitled "Planet Earth" and a 36-page commemorative booklet with "exclusive photos of Michael from his last rehearsal".

Couldn't sleep yesterday night because of my HP Pavilion DV4-1412TX make me frown :( The HP Total Care Advisor stopped working and I couldn't update the software for the rest of my software that need to update. Couldn't find a good solution to solved it and tried to recovery the system restore many time. Finally decided to recover back to original factory setting due to wanna clean up my messy files and recover back all sort of files i deleted to solve the stupid total care advisor software.

I woke at 10:30am since I couldn't fall asleep anymore and the heart isn't on the bed and my mind keep thinking what to do with the laptop. Firstly I wanted to burn the backup into DVD's but it has limited space for DVD then I took my notebook down to living room and share the External Hardisc from my desktop that contain 500GB previously bought at PC Fair and the storage of backup at my desktop isn't that much. So I fill in another few GB to the external hardisc. After backing up the files and data I start to recover the whole thing. It doesn't take long to re-install the window but the HP software is very annoying because it shut down few times and relogin again but that is the process have to goes by. It took about an hour to settle everything and at last I see the new window came out........phew~! I love you so much please don't stay away from me again =.= and those useless files and data please go away.... LOL ^_^

Currently I'm having problem to install the stupid MSN and update the windows and Norton internet security. Every updates have to start it over again. Lucky my google chrome and facebook, yahoo mail and blogger works well. I wish to boost up the ram from my notebook :'( coz vista really eating too much of it although I don't have much stuff in my notebook right now. It's empty!

Nasi Soya Habis T_T Kesian Saya

27th October 2009 8:30am iPhone alarm rang~ but I stopped it and make it to 9:30am since I'm still having my holiday and the bank is open on 9:30am so sleep awhile more.

At last get up on its time then go to market with mom and we had roti tisu and milo as my breakfast. Mom is the boss today hehe! Then we walk around market to look at my hair conditioner and electrical toothbrush.

11:45am reach back home and started to pack my laptop and plan to go to Pusat Bandar Damansara to buy my lovely nasi soya + daging dendeng as my lunch. Chat awhile with Ho on the yahoo messenger to invite him whether want to have nasi soya or not but then since he said his off day always turning up like work day so I don't want to stress him up to come cartoon city because of the nasi soya =.=" swt~ We chat about Maple story and he told me he done fishing during at night and have training during day time. So it won't waste time for just fishing only. The time is rushing and its about to 12:00pm so I rush to the bustop on time at 11:50am while I heard the bus sound engine during I changing pants lucky I manage to catch the U73 bus and it started to move after 5minutes later.

Then I missed the bus while walking in to the KL Sentral station because it passed by infront of me and I couldn't chase it due to the traffic jam and a lot of cars. U82 bus came and reach PBD around 20minutes later 12:50pm saw the soya station in front of the Watson's shop but then the daging dendeng is habis. Abang said to me :" Kesian you..." Huhuhu~ I wanna come back again tomorrow earlier I swear to myself! And I got into the bus of Tempatan to Bangsar LRT Station without waiting coz the bus just arrive when I got down from U82 bus and it still have people queue-ing up to pay the fare.

Reach Bangsar LRT Station around 15minutes. Then waiting for any bus passing by to go to Pasar Seni. Got up U81 about 5minutes later. Finally can go to Pasar Seni to wait U66 bus to Taman Medan. Waited for another 15minutes. While during the time in the bus, I had listened 3 times of Taylor Swift - Love Story songs and twice of Hoobastank - The Reasons. I felt ear-sicked so I bud up my iPod and listen to Avril Lavigne - When you're gone. I love this song so much...

Reach Jalan Gasing at 2:00pm and bungkus the kambing rendang for lunch...

Malacca Trip @ 20th October 2009

Woke up at 6.50am "YAWN"~ brush teeth wash face as usual. Can't stop facebook-ing and war2. Finally got the shirt and pant wore then waiting in front of the door.
Around 7:40am you can hear the HON HON sound and phone ringing that is Lai Hong giving me acknowledge that she is almost arrive to my house. There were 4 peoples in the car that is Lai Hong, her sister Ah Yi, and another Suet Yee who worked with Lai Hong at Sunway Pyramid and Isabel.

We then went to Brickfield to have our first meal breakfast opposite to Post office which hiding inside there that I wouldn't alert it. We all ordered the Pork Meehoon to eat. Me and Isabel share the Meehoon because both of us eat very little only. And I forgotten to take picture for the breakfast and it is very delicious. Almost finish eating that moment, another gang had came that is Anthony, Meng chai and Yean. LOL I don't know much bout them but they are quite friendly and funny. All of them can joke very fun and over-acted haha!
After breakfast we had then we move on to beginning to the trip to Melacca. We got down to Seremban high way and start our long journey there!

Firstly we do have some chat while on the road but I didn't laugh much as they did because I felt tired and strange. After awhile Isabel fall into sleep then Suet Yee then me wearing sunglass so you couldn't see whether I'm awaken or slept. Some more I'm not fit in the car cause Isabel and Suet Yee both quite hmmm......so I have to sit like the bamboo stick in uncomfortable way. Slowly I had fall into sleep as well. Then I heard some noisy voice not longer that we are exactly going to the wrong way and missed the Melacca exit. Lai Hong called Anthony and he is blurring then she called her father to confirm the way to u-turn back. The toll cost us RM18.70. U-turn then back to Malacca exit this time. Then my GPS iPhone is worked for this travel! We went to the town and find the Jalan Melaka to visit the A Famosa hill. We stopped the car nearby and climb the stairs. Everybody are lack of stamina to climb the stairs but except me. Not sure whether I am exciting or hybrid?

View from the bottom of the Famaso.

Here's the top view from the Famosa.

Then we went to Jonker Street to have a walk and to have chicken rice ball as lunch as everyone are hungry. Last time I ate the chicken rice ball at Chung Wah Hainan Chicken Rice while this time I have it at Hoe Kee Chicken Rice and I heard they have another branch at a bit further of the street which is the same Hoe Kee Chicken Rice. The chicken rice ball is yummy while the chicken and pork I felt a bit normal. Thus we didn't order any drinks from the meal because we were about to go Jonker Street Cafe
aka Jonker 88 Dessert Cafe with my GPS iPhone to have our dessert! To be fair we have it all the same Baba Cendol (Chendol) Rm1.70 for all 8 of us...

We went to buy some Pineapple Tarts and some local food for tasting for our family. While the sun is still hot and sunny we would like to have some air-conditional place to hang around while waiting the sun set for next destination. We then gone to the Pahlawan Mall =.= which they have stupid architecture to build the building that have stupid direction to Mcdonalds. Another thing is they have really bad service of the receptionist at the information counter with stupid service of Mcdonalds there. From the Kuala Lumpur we already felt our own service is terrible and we thought it will be better from kampung kampung area like Melacca. Oh my godness and wanna get fainted by that time.

We sat there to wait our tai ko Anthony to treat us drinks =p So he bought up 8 softdrinks with 2 Large fries to stay up to 5pm. Isabel and I were sit next together to share our iPhone experiences lol. She just get her 3GS but the connection with the internet have some problem. Her phone need the wifi to online while mine don't need it as long as have Maxis coverage connection and that will be fine. Mcdonald's wifi couldn't get us to get online which is horrible to pass the time to sit there for 2hours. But then Isabel took my phone to play games to pass her time xD while I'm boring with my NDS Mario Kart but lucky I brought it with me.
Lai Hong kept spreading the news from her work place that her supervisor funky things. Nobody likes her and they kept MMS the food we had during the time to one of her colleague that unable to come with us who name Ah Lim and they known his as a bit girlish.

Around 5 something we walked to Melacca street to visit the Red House known as Christ Church Melacca. The distance is about 10-15minutes walk from the Pahlawan Mall.

>They want to take photo with the snake >.<>

Walked to the canon place to have some photo shot.

Photo shot from the Canon 7 of us only because Nicole sister Ah Yi help to hold camera.

We went back to the car and took some picture while on the way back and prepare to go for dinner.

The picture of all of us taken by my camera from the stand of the train in front of it. Nobody helps to take the picture. It is a bit shaking but this is the best picture among the all!

Asked permission from an Indian uncle to help to take picture without zoom it doesn't look nice at all...

Picture without Suet Yee. Lai Hong seems bored and tired. They guys climb so hard to the cow~

Finally we are moving to have our satay celup. And they are wanting to compose a song for it! Here's the picture of satay celup... It's my first time to try it! Eventually they put the satay sauce into the pot to steam it like steamboat and we throw everything in it to steam.

Here's our total stick we eaten which is 58 sticks.

p/s: don't be misled other shops. Haha business competitor always get in fight.

I will never forget to come back next time if I have the chance to visit Melacca again. Today is a wonderful and memorable day with the friends I newly met and having fun time together!
